Dear Neighbor,
The Corradino Report and the State Attorney’s Grand Jury investigation revealed what many of us have felt for years: 👉 Key West’s government is broken — and this Commission is keeping it that way.
City leadership has ignored reports, protected insiders, and enabled a culture of corruption. Criminal indictments prove the problem runs deep. But here’s the real danger: without public pressure, nothing will change.
💥 We must show up. We must speak up.
Join your neighbors Wednesday, June 25th at 5PM at City Hall. Demand real reform, transparency, and leadership that works for residents, not just insiders.
🔥 Here’s what this Commission has failed to do — and how it’s hurting you:
- 🏠 Insiders skip the housing waitlist — if you’re connected, you’re in. If you’re not, good luck.
- 🌊 Flooding worsens — development was prioritized over long-term infrastructure.
- 🔇 Noise laws enforced unequally — enforcement depends on who you know, not what you’re doing.
- 🛑 No action on corruption — a year after the Corradino Report and Grand Jury indictments, still no meaningful reforms. The Corradino Report still has not been discussed on the dias. You paid for it now lets discuss it.
- 💸 Tens of millions in public money lost — botched contracts and sweetheart deals cost the city up to $11 million a year.
- 🚢 Cruise ship damage covered up — after scientific proof of environmental harm, the Commission shut down the truth-tellers.
- 🧑⚖️ Alleged Felons protected, whistleblowers silenced — employees trying to do the right thing were punished or pushed out.
- 🗳️ Opaque decision-making — public input ignored, last-minute agenda changes, and backroom dealings dominate.
- 🧾 Tax increases proposed while city revenue bleeds — yet we own enough assets to cover our needs without raising taxes.
- 🏗️ Neighborhoods neglected — zoning changes benefit developers, not the people who actually live here.
- 📜 Still no enforceable ethics code — and no real oversight of city officials.
- 👥 No meaningful community involvement — “reform” is being written behind closed doors with no public input.
🧭 So What Can We Do?
We show up. We speak out. And we push for a real path forward:
✅ We demand the creation of an independent, empowered Citizen Advisory Committee
This is the only way to ensure residents—not corrupt insiders—lead the reform process. It must be transparent, inclusive, and independent from the City Manager’s office and current Commission.
✅ We say NO to tax increases until the corruption stops
We own city assets that could generate millions. City Hall just isn’t collecting what we’re owed. You shouldn’t be asked to pay more while others profit off your silence.
✅ We organize for the 2026 election
Commissioners Hoover, Carey, and Henriquez are up for re-election. They failed us. It’s time to replace them with leaders who will fight for honest government.
